Sweet Chariot

A childhood swing reimagined in metal and light

2022 · Welded swing maquette

In Sweet Chariot, I reimagine the childhood swing through metalwork, color, and suspension. I welded an open metal frame around a purple acrylic seat and suspended the maquette with OceanYarn rope made from recycled ocean-bound plastic. Light passing through the acrylic projects color beyond the seat, while the angular framework creates a second composition in shadow. Through these relationships, I explore how furniture can shape the atmosphere of an interior, bringing the familiarity of a childhood pastime into a new experience of space.
