ABOUT SYdney

I use archival and cultural research to explore how creative heritage is preserved, questioned, and reinterpreted by different communities. My work includes examining the Lo-Lifes’ adoption of Polo Ralph Lauren and developing our team’s acquisition proposal for the University of Michigan Museum of Art’s Art Tank competition. Working within a $60,000 acquisition budget, I presented and defended our recommendation to museum curators and a public audience, making the case through historical research, market analysis, and collection fit. These experiences inform my interest in how brands and institutions interpret heritage, whose stories they foreground, and how audiences give them new meaning.
-
My practice in jewelry, sculpture, and installation informs my attention to product hierarchy, proportion, and spatial composition. At Ralph Lauren, I supported seasonal floor sets and launch activations in line with visual guidelines and campaign standards, collaborating with creative and regional visual teams. I consider how product placement can highlight craftsmanship, maintain brand consistency, and support the client experience.
-
My approach to clienteling begins with the piece itself, the hand and drape of a fabric, the construction of a garment, or the metalwork and finish of a jewel. At Ralph Lauren, I paired those details with the stories behind the designs, including the influence of Mr. Lauren’s automobile collection on his Automotive watches. Connecting craftsmanship and inspiration to each client’s interests allowed me to sell across apparel, watches, and fine jewelry, while personalized recommendations and thoughtful follow-up built relationships beyond the initial purchase.
-
I consider both commercial performance and creative intent when supporting merchandise development. At Live Nation, I used quantitative sell-out and margin analysis to inform reorders and tour-specific assortments. I also participated in product reviews with artists’ creative directors, documenting design feedback, sample revisions, approval decisions, and next steps for production teams. This work connected the creative direction of an assortment with the audience demand, production requirements, and delivery timelines behind it.
-
I am pursuing a BFA in Art & Design at the University of Michigan’s Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design, with a minor in Entrepreneurship through the Ross School of Business. My studies bring together studio practice, art history, and business, informing how I research ideas, experiment with materials, and present creative work.
